The advent of computer simulation and visualisation techniques for acoustic design and analysis has made room acoustics prediction very much easier.
The range of parameters which contribute to excellent acoustics in auditoria is now large: as well as Reverberation Time, we consider Early Decay Time, Early to Late Energy Ratio, Clarity, Lateral Energy Fraction, Room Gain and Speech Intelligibility.
The balancing of these parameters is a subtle process and is based on experience of listening to and measuring completed auditoria. Each hall will have a slightly different “signature”.
We have modelled a large number of auditoria and results obtained during commissioning have shown an accurate correlation between prediction and actual results.
